Has news in Bengali (both text and multimedia), and has sections on entertainment, cuisine, sports, rural news, and a classified section. You will need to download fonts to see the Bengali text on these pages. If you are a book fan, you may want to follow Kolkata Boi Mela.

West Bengal homepage [official]
This site was started with the initiative of the West Bengal government as a tourism site. Has a very nice and appealing layout. Navigation is simple.

 

Bangali Net
This well-designed site has Bengali calendar, a site for Durga Puja including calendar, E-cards, Bengali food and a good links section.

 

Abasar
Information on law, health, arts, science, environment and women's issues. Includes a directory of local and community services of Dhaka and Kolkata and recreational items.

 

Calcutta Phone Directory
A website to search people in Calcutta based on phone (or vice versa) and also check your bills online.

 

Calcutta Online
This is the earliest commercial site related to Bengal. Has daily news and tons of information. Also peek at their new multi-media site AARAMV.

 

CalcuttaWeb
This is site full of links. Has organised sections to point you to the information you need quickly.

 

Bangla Alive
This is very professionally designed site with lot of Bengali content interlaced within typical traditional bengali art. Also has a bengali calendar ,an e-card section, and best of all, your childhood comic strips like Haanda-Bhonda and Baantul-the-Great!

 

Virtual Bangladesh
Has a neat layout. Good for a virtual tour.

 

Bangladesh Online
Bangladesh equivalent of Calcutta Online.

 

Bengal Commerce
Send gifts to cities in Bangladesh and India. Receive digital pictures of your family members.

 

Online Puja
A recent addition to the Internet family. You may offer puja at Kaalighat, Tarakeshwar and Dakhineshwar.
